Types of Window Tint Film
Ceramic Tint
Ceramic tint is the best choice for Arizona heat. It uses nano-ceramic particles to block up to 99% of UV rays and reject up to 80% of infrared heat without interfering with GPS, cell signals, or Bluetooth. Ceramic film offers the highest optical clarity and longest lifespan of any tint type, which is why it's our recommendation for sports cars and performance vehicles in Phoenix.
Carbon Tint
Carbon tint uses carbon fiber particles that provide excellent heat rejection at a more affordable price point than ceramic. It produces a matte finish that many drivers prefer aesthetically. Carbon film does not fade over time like dyed films and will not interfere with electronics.
Metallic Tint
Metallic tint contains tiny metallic particles that reflect heat away from the vehicle. It is highly durable and scratch-resistant. However, metallic film can interfere with cell phone signals, GPS, and satellite radio, so we typically recommend ceramic or carbon for most customers.
Dyed Tint
Dyed tint is the most budget-friendly option and provides good privacy and glare reduction. It does not reject as much heat as ceramic or carbon films and can fade to a purple hue over time in intense sun. We generally recommend upgrading to carbon or ceramic for Arizona drivers.
Arizona Window Tint Laws
Arizona window tint laws are straightforward. Front side windows must allow at least 33% of visible light through (33% VLT minimum). There are no restrictions on rear side windows or the rear windshield, so you can choose any darkness level you prefer for the back of the vehicle. The front windshield may have non-reflective tint applied to the top 5 inches only.
Arizona also limits tint reflectivity. Front side windows cannot be more than 35% reflective, and rear windows cannot be more than 35% reflective. Dual side mirrors are required if the rear window is tinted.
Every installation at Mr. Glassworks complies with Arizona tint law. We will walk you through the legal options for your vehicle so you get the darkest tint allowed without risk of a citation. For the full breakdown including reflectivity limits and medical exemptions, read our Arizona window tint laws guide.
Visit Our Tempe or Chandler Shop
Window tinting is available at both our Tempe location (2009 E. 5th St., Ste. 12) and our Chandler location (444 E Chandler Blvd #3). Tinting is performed in-shop rather than as a mobile service because a controlled, dust-free environment produces the best results with no bubbles or debris under the film.
When you arrive, our team will review your tint options, confirm Arizona-legal VLT levels for your vehicle, and give you an accurate time estimate. Ceramic tint for a full car, truck, or SUV is $395. Most vehicles are completed the same day. You are welcome to drop off your vehicle and pick it up when we call, or wait in our shop.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the legal window tint limit in Arizona?
Arizona allows any darkness on rear and back windows. Front side windows must allow at least 33% visible light transmission (VLT). The front windshield can have non-reflective tint on the top 5 inches.
How much does car window tinting cost in Tempe?
Window tinting typically costs $150 to $400 depending on the vehicle size and film type. Ceramic film is at the higher end but offers the best heat rejection for Arizona summers.
How long does window tinting take?
Most vehicles take 2 to 4 hours. Sedans are faster, SUVs and trucks take longer due to more glass. We recommend allowing a half day.
What type of tint film is best for Arizona heat?
Ceramic tint film is the best choice for Arizona. It blocks up to 99% of UV rays and rejects up to 80% of infrared heat without interfering with electronics or reducing visibility.
Does window tinting void my car warranty?
No. Federal law (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) prevents manufacturers from voiding warranties due to aftermarket modifications unless the modification directly caused the issue.
